Canada-China Initiatives Fund Application | Virtual Events and Activities

YCAR invites applications from York University faculty and graduate students for the Canada-China Initiatives Fund call for proposals.

In recognition of the current global circumstances due to COVID-19, we are inviting applications for virtual events. This includes: virtual talks, workshop, seminars, conferences or related activities held between 1 September 2021 and 30 April 2022 to communicate with peers and/or wider publics and share knowledge with researchers elsewhere that are focused on themes within the scope noted above.

The number of funded applications will depend on submissions. Applications will be judged based on several criteria:

- Their potential to raise the global profile of research and engagement at York on China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan and its global reach, or Canada-China linkages, or the Chinese-Canadian community. Preference will be given to initiatives that explore how research on China can impact or impacts Canada.
- Their potential to foster connections between York and institutions in China or in the Chinese-Canadian community.
- Appropriate, realistic and noteworthy output(s) that contribute to the first three criteria
- Strong support and participation from at least one York faculty member (and preferably more than one, except in cases of graduate student funding).
- Achievable timeline
- Detailed and accurate budget. Expenses should be appropriate to the proposal. Applicants submitting application for research funding are required to show proposed or requested or confirmed cash or in-kind support from other sources for their application to be considered.
