China Insights Fund Application | Workshop, Symposium or Conference

• York University faculty members
• Full-time, domestic or international graduate students enrolled at York University
• YCAR Associates

SCOPE
Events hosted at York University or where York plays an institutional partnering role, bringing together researchers from York and beyond, focused on themes related to:
a) Imperial, modern and contemporary China;
b) China and its relationship with the global community, including Canada
c) China and the Indo-Pacific area as a region
d) Chinese Diaspora in Canada

BUDGET
Minimum of $5,000 and a maximum of C$15,000

This application has THREE sections. Please complete all sections. Late applications will not be accepted.

CRITERIA:
Applications will be judged based on several criteria:

• Global Impact Potential: Potential to enhance the global profile of research and engagement at York University concerning China and the world. This could include strategies for disseminating research project outcomes, leveraging digital platforms, and employing creative methods to reach an international academic audience
• Potential for Connection: Potential to foster connections between York and local or international educational institutions
• Communication and Knowledge Mobilization Strategy: Clear articulation of a communication and knowledge mobilization strategy that will ensure that findings from the research, exchange or visit are shared widely with academic and non-academic audiences.
• Quality and Relevance of Outputs: Appropriateness, realism and significance of the proposed output(s) in contributing to the fostering of connections and the communication strategy
• Faculty Support (only for full-time, domestic or international graduate students applicants) Support and active participation from at least one York University faculty member and/or YCAR Associate
• Non-York Scholar/Institution Involvement: Participation of at least one non-York University scholar and/or institution
• Realistic Timeline: The feasibility and achievability of the proposed timeline
• Detailed and Accurate Budget: The completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of the budget, ensuring that expenses align with the proposal. This budget should be inclusive of the project overall, even if the funds being requested are a portion of the overall budget.
• Contributions from Other Sources: Inclusion of in-kind or cash contributions (confirmed or requested) from other sources. Applications lacking such contributions will not be adjudicated. Please note that there is no minimum or maximum contribution.
