Students applying to this major or minor must have honours standing (minimum 5.0 GPA) In order to apply to major or minor in Creative Writing, you must have completed, or must be in the process of completing the prerequisite course AP/CWR 2600 6.0: Introduction to Creative Writing (formerly AP/EN 2600 6.0). Applicants can apply to the major or minor after completion of their first 48 university credits.

Please note: No oral or written feedback is available from the Creative Writing admissions committee on individual applications and/or portfolios. The decision of the committee is final. Submission materials and portfolios will NOT be returned. Students who are denied entry as a Creative Writing major or minor may be allowed into upper-level creative writing courses provided space is available (in which case, please complete the ‘Application to Creative Writing Upper-Level Workshop Courses as a Non-Major/Minor’ form). Such students may also re-apply to the major or minor program the following spring. Students who wish to enter any of the AMPD workshop courses in playwriting or screenwriting should contact the relevant departments directly for requirements. THANK YOU!
